Sunbeam Break My Boundaries And Explore Myself

Sunbeam Break My Boundaries And Explore Myself

Ah! It’s been 3 years and as I look back memories daze my eyes and fill it with tears and my lips curve into a smile as I sit here reliving those times…so many thoughts are flooding my mind and I  don’t know where to where to begin! Sunbeam school has transformed me as a whole. It made me break my boundaries and explore myself. All of my teachers always wanted the best out of us and they worked tirelessly towards that each day. 10th board results were out and I had already decided for a change of syllabus so as to get the desired cut-off and pursue medicine. Naturally, my choice was Sunbeam Matric School for it’s known for its amazing results every year with a dedicated teaching fraternity. As I entered the portals of this school way back on June 10, 2015 I was immediately attracted to the warmth of the people around. The huge buildings, infrastructure and most importantly the innumerable buses caught my eye. Our campus is known as the green campus and true to what it’s called, you can see greenery all around.

Huge trees, well-watered plants and vibrant flowers are a treat to the eyes and fills the place with fresh air. It’s one of my favourite things here. I enjoy the calm and energy around. Every morning as we enter our school we are greeted by the chirping of birds and the water cascades at the entrance are one of my favourite places! As I think about the grand auditorium with its dazzling focus lights and which has room for over 4000 people, many events flash across my mind. Right from day 1, the auditorium has witnessed so many of our talents. It is where we lost our stage fear and faced the crowd boldly. Our teachers were very particular in identifying our talents and made sure we showcased it. They always wanted us to excel in whatever we do. I used to be very timid but my teachers gave me the strength and this made me shed all my inhibitions and once you start going to the stage there is no coming back! Even thinking about it makes me want to go there again! Not just studies but every activity was given equal importance here! Talking about my class, 11D and 12D, we were a bunch of healthy competitors who support each other and at the same time compete to give our best. With all its moments of fun, it will never fade from my memory! Our teachers are the best. The one thing that will always come to my mind every time I think about Sunbeam are my teachers. They were my pillar of support. Their dedication cannot be described in mere words. Efforts they put in to make us understand the subject leaves me spellbound. We had our own question banks prepared by our teachers despite their already tight schedule which were of so much detail. They did not confine their teaching to what is given in the book but made sure we learnt in-depth and gained additional information. Classes used to be lively and interactive. It wasn’t monotonous. What we learnt in class stayed afresh in our minds. Portions were completed well ahead of time and many revision tests were conducted which helped us stay on track. After every test, Teachers took special care in helping us analyse our mistakes which helped us improve and do better. We were given permission to call them anytime during our study holidays to clarify doubts. I’m indebted to my teachers and overwhelmed by all that they did for us. Apart from our usual classes we also had extra coaching from LEARNING POINT on Sundays which benefitted us in our revision. The teachers were equally dedicated. We always look forward to those classes despite it being a Sunday. Ayesha mam and Sowmya mam, our principals were my great strength. They shower motherly care. I really miss them. Talking to them or even seeing their cheerful faces every day with the same energy. They connected to us at a deeper level. Many motivation programmes were arranged and inspiring personalities were brought in to motivate us and fill us with determination. We used to enjoy those events. Right when we stepped into our 12th grade, the NEET medical entrance exam was suddenly introduced and left us confused. While we had no clue what or how to prepare our Chairman, T HARIGOPALAN, brought in experienced faculty from Hyderabad and included NEET coaching classes amidst our schedule which came as a relief and helped prepare for it simultaneously. This is one of the reasons why sunbeam stands tall!

YOU NAME IT AND TADA!! YOU HAVE IT!

We were exposed to a number of activities in our 11th grade. Club activities are something that we wait for every month. I had the privilege of being the quiz club president. I had been to many quizzes but never did I think I would be able to conduct one. Being the quiz club president gave me the courage to face the crowd and taught me to interact with people effectively. A chill runs down my spine as I think about all that. Many other clubs like t he philately, astronomy, adventure, science maths were also there. Our PET department is one of the best out there. Lakshmi mam and Sarala mam are very close to my heart. They taught us discipline and made sure we were dressed neatly and our hairs were tied properly. They inquire about us every day and were very approachable. They were more of our friends and we used to share light moments with them amidst all the stress. The cared about our studies and health as well. Talking about the PET departments reminds me of the tennis court. We have well-furnished tennis courts and being a state-level tennis player this is something that motivated me to play again. Lakshmi mam and Sarala mam encouraged me and I was able to make it to few tournaments again. It was an amazing experience! Apart from the tennis court we have so many other sports facilities .sports are given equal importance here and our PET teachers train us tirelessly. I was a part of the Emerald house along with my favourite teacher! The march past session and drill sessions were so much fun and I really miss them! We won the march past shield that year!! No one can miss mentioning about the infrastructure and facilities here! All the labs are well-equipped. We love going to the library.

The auditorium, the audiovisual centre, robotics lab and most importantly the silver jubilee block are my favourite! Not to forget the canteen! We used to rush to the canteen in those few minutes of our recess and snacking on chicken roll is something that I can’t forget. We crave for chicken roll and it’s the best here! Thinking of it makes my mouth water! SUNFEST, an event of grandeur witnesses spectacular performances. The whole campus is highly decorated.  Delicious food and other stalls are put up. We wait all the year for this day! During our year, our correspondent mam, Ms.Thangaprakash, got the National award for teachers and it was a proud moment for all of us. We were indeed a lucky batch! I miss everything. I miss all my teachers. I’m forever indebted to our Chairman and Correspondent, Principals, Ayesha mam and Sowmya mam and Padmaja mam, Padmavathi mam, Bharathi mam, Ramadevi mam, Charles sir, JK sir and Mohan sir. Having switched streams I had difficulty in Tamil, if it not for Ramadevi mam’s constant efforts and support I would have not scored well in Tamil. Every one of them took so much care. I’m simply at loss of words. Those 2 years had a great impact on me. They changed me as a person. True to the motto, Sunbeam is not only imparted knowledge but also other skills to meet the needs of society.

I AM PROUD TO BE A SUNBEAMIAN!!!
